Overcoming Risk With Attitude

I was speaking with a client this morning in preparation for a meeting next week with the owner and his team. We were talking through some potential agenda subjects, general approach and some company history to this point. In the process of talking about some of the pressures on his business, the subject of raw material costs came up (e.g. Chinese tariffs on things like steel/metals/etc. which his business heavily depends on). His immediate comment, when I mentioned this as a risk, was (I'm paraphrasing) "I won't let that stand in the way of our business's success!"

This was a great example of his pure business moxie, by making sure that I knew that he wouldn't let something like a tariff or tax stand in the way of serving his customers and growing his business. I love this attitude! This is attitude that will drive his business to the next level, not allowing things outside his control to determine his future. It's awesome!

Now, he still needs a sound strategy and an execution plan, but with that type of attitude, even a "not so great" strategy has a better than average chance of success! I look forward to working with him and his team to lay out their next strategic steps to growing his business.
